TRY TIME! A Rugby League Board Game For Kids
If your household lives and breathes rugby league, we’ve just kicked off something you’ll want in your game day line-up. Introducing TRY TIME! our brand new rugby league board game that turns the thrill of the field into a fun, fast paced family or classroom activity.
The full physical board game, complete with a custom game spinner, is in the works and will be hitting our shop soon. But we couldn’t keep the fun on the bench any longer, so in the meantime we’ve created a printable version you can enjoy right now, in full colour and colour-in version so kids can get creative before the first whistle blows.
Whether your little legend is an NRL stats guru or just learning their first ‘try’ from their ‘tackle,’ this game is the perfect blend of learning, laughter, and a touch of competitive spirit.
How It Works
Think snakes and ladders meets rugby league, with a dash of referee drama thrown in.
You’ll need:
✅ Printable game board (A4 or A3 your choice)
✅ A six-sided dice
✅ Player tokens (counters, NRL minifigs, buttons. Whatever works!)
✅ A stopwatch or timer
✅ Paper & pencil for keeping score
Roll the dice, move along the track, and try to cross the try line as many times as you can before the timer runs out. But watch out, the referee spaces can send you forward or back depending on the call. One roll you’re flying ahead on after defenders breached the ’10 Metre Rule’, the next you’re shuffling backwards after a ‘Forward Pass.’
Quick win option? First to cross the try line wins. Full match mode? Most tries scored before the time is up takes the win.
